Our Campus is a beautiful combination of North Florida nature, history, and new technologyWe have a walkable campus you can explore to get a breath of air or some sun on your faceHome to several species of aquatic birds who make our multiple ponds their homeSo many options around campus for a picnic lunch or some exerciseThe Sentinel Caf located in the Student Center and offers breakfast and lunch at very reasonable pricesSummary The Learning Specialist will provide academic assistance for all students regardless of their academic proficiencyAs a learning specialist for English/Language Arts, the individual will support the reading and writing needs of students across content areasHe or she must relate to and work with students individually and/or in small groups, exercise good judgment, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writingThe learning specialist will exercise strong organizational skills, proficiency in working in an online environment, exhibit an eagerness to learn and be of service, and promote positive student, faculty, and staff relationsMust have a positive attitude and be a team playerEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide professional tutoring to students (content area tutoring, TABE/PERT/ACCUPLACER reviews, study skills, etc.
) through the Academic Success Center (ASC) Illustrate knowledge of study skills and strategies Assist Tutor Lab Manager by supervising peer tutors in the absences of the manager Assist the ASC Coordinator in the following:
Academic Coaching Administration of diagnostic assessments Development and implementation/facilitation of workshops and/or study sessions Assist in the development of resources specific to subject specialty Provide professional tutoring and academic support when needed Perform various administrative tasks associated with marketing and promotion of ASC services Provide documentation of contact with students and maintain case notes Work a proportionate share of evening hours; flexible schedule preferredMinimum Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorilyThe requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability requiredReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsBachelor's degree (BAor BS.
) from an accredited institution preferredAssociate's degree (A.
